Camelot Castle

1: Getting started

Talk with King Arthur in Camelot Castle and ask him if you are allowed to join the Knights of the Round Table. He will tell you about Merlin who is trapped in a crystal and tell you to talk with the other knights.

Talk with Sir Gawain (frequently found outside) and ask him how Merlin got trapped. Now go upstairs and talk with Sir Lancelot, ask about how to get into the Morgan Le Faye Stronghold. Lancelot will tell you that you need to get in using a boat. If he won't, ask the other knights there.

2: Keep Le Faye

Go to Catherby, and speak with Arhein on the dock. Ask where he sails and if you can get a lift. He will tell you not yet, since he is waiting for a box of candles. Now go to the back of the candle shop, just north of the boat, and hide in the box there. You will be transported to Keep Le Faye.

Once you're at the Keep, go up the 2 sets of stairs, and fight Sir Mordred (lvl 34). When you've nearly killed him, Morgan Le Faye will appear and ask you to spare him. Ask her how to get Merlin out of the crystal and she will tell you that you need the sword Excalibur, a black candle, bat bones and some magic words. Ask her where to find Excalibur and the magic words.

  • 3: Bat bones:
Go down the stairs of the Keep and west out the doors - kill a bat.
  • 4: Black Candle:
Go to the house south-east of the Ranged shop in Catherby and get some insect repellent. Go west to the beehives (east of flax field) and pick up the bucket spawn there. Use the insect repellent on one of the beehives. Then choose "Take from", and your bucket should fill with wax. Take this back to the candle maker in Catherby and get him to make the black candle. Use a tinderbox on it to light the candle.
  • 5: Excalibur:
You need bread to do this part. Check our cooking guide for more details on how to make it. Go to the Lady of the Lake. She is found on the peninsula extending out onto Taverley's lake - ask her about the sword. After that, go to the jewellery store in Port Sarim, and try to open the door. A beggar will appear, give him your bread, and he will turn into the Lady of the Lake, who will give you Excalibur.
  • 6: Magic Words:
Head to the south-east Altar in Varrock (located south-east of Aubury's Magic shop). Check the altar by right-clicking on it, and you will get this line:
    Snarthon Candtrick Termanto.

7: Freeing Merlin

Now go back to Camelot and outside in the garden, find the fountain on the north east part of the grounds. Under the little building there, there will be a circle-like thing on the floor. Stand in the middle of it, and drop the bat bones. Thrantax the Mighty will appear, if you say the right words, it will obey you; if not, you must fight it. You will wish that Merlin could be freed.

Note: The black candle needs to be lit. Use a tinderbox on it to do this.

Now, for the last part. Go to the south-eastern ladder of the castle, up the 2 sets of ladders, and use Excalibur on the crystal. Now go back to King Arthur, and he will reward you.
