Introduction Bounty Fee Fighting in the Crucible Supreme Champion Looting Corpses Rewards Credits
IntroductionBorn from the wretched hate and despair of the Wilderness dripping down over generations, the Crucible is a members-only PvP minigame available to players with a combat level of 60 or greater*. The entrance to the Crucible is found along the wilderness wall on the eastern side of Edgeville (as shown in the picture below). While you are anywhere in the Crucible's arena (except at the banks), a player will be assigned a target based on the level of their combat skills. Upon defeating a target, you will be able to pick up their lost items. However, if you are defeated, you will lose your items. It is recommended to speak to Marv behind the hatch for lessons on the Crucible before entering the arena, although doing so isn't necessary.
Return to TopBounty FeeWhen you enter the arena, you are charged a bounty fee. You will be informed of the fee and given a breakdown of it when you enter the arena. This bounty fee is based on your combat level and the value of what you are using. You can keep that fee so long as you are risking enough items and are not running away from fights. This fee will be paid to your opponent if you flee from the Crucible. You can get your fee back by talking to one of the banks in the arena. Return to TopFighting in the CrucibleThe Crucible is a massive dome shaped arena situated underneath the wilderness. When you enter, you will start off in one of the four banks around the arena. These banks are safe areas, allowing you to prepare for the fights which will follow. Each bank area has a prayer altar where you can recharge your prayer. Summoning familiars cannot be used within the Crucible. You can exit the Crucible via the yellow exit fissure in any of the bank areas. To enter the arena, click on the other fissure and you will have to confirm the bounty fee as detailed above.
The invulnerable icon is shown when a player has immunity in the arena. The bounty target icon is shown when you have a target, both above you and your potential victim. The supreme champion icon is shown above the supreme champions which are discussed in the next section. Return to TopSupreme ChampionEach time you get a kill, your ranking points within the arena will increase. Roughly every 30 minutes, those with the highest points will become Supreme Champions. A message will appear in the chat box stating that 'Supreme Champions will be named in 1 minute!' before the supreme champions are named. During this minute, there will be a countdown at the top right of the screen counting down from 6 to 0. The following icons will also appear:
Your ranking is only reduced after you've been the Supreme Champion. As a result, if you stay long enough you will become a supreme champion eventually.
Return to TopLooting CorpsesThroughout the arena you will see corpses lying on the ground. Looting corpses can yield nothing, but if you are lucky you can receive a pair of damaged rogues gloves. These gloves come in 5 different types, each offering better stats and bonuses. The gloves cost 15 trophy bones to repair, as outlined in the rewards section later. Looting corpses is the only way to obtain these gloves. When you loot a corpse, you will have to fight a soul. When its health is low, right-click on the corpse and select the 'Direct' option. The weakened soul will return to its body and you can then loot the corpse for a chance of getting the damaged gloves.
Return to TopRewardsWith the risk of losing all of the items you dare to bring into the Crucible, the rewards are definitely worthwhile. In addition to being able to pick up the drops of others fighting in the arena, there is also a nice selection of rewards including death taunts, death titles, special life-points boosting gloves and more. These rewards, unless otherwise stated, are purchased using trophy bones which are obtained by defeating other players as well as completing the tutorial lessons at the Crucible. To purchase these rewards, speak to Marv by knocking on the hatch in the first room of the Crucible. Death Taunts
*You can only buy the Supreme Champion helm when you've been chosen as a Supreme Champion at least once. Return to TopCreditsOriginal Guide by: Baffler Special thanks to: Octarine Last Updated by: Arceus Last updated: 10-Nov-2014
