Examine	A strange broken device of gnomic design.
Location	Search the chest in the basement of the mourner's headquarters in West Ardougne where the head mourner is after talking to the head mourner during the Mourning's Ends Part 1 quest. You need to be wearing a complete mourner's outfit and have the mourner's letter to enter this building.

Uses	Search the Head Mourner's desk to find a tarnished key. Use the key to open the jail cell to the south-west where there is a gnome on a rack. Talk to the gnome on the rack and repeat what he just told you. Then use a feather to tickle his feet twice. Click on the rack to release the gnome from the rack. With a soft leather from a tanned cow hide, a magic log and a toad crunchie purchased from the Gnome stronghold (Grand Tree) in your inventory, he will fix the broken device.
