Monday Poll & Updates »

Hi everyone, time for the weekly poll. This week, we'd like to where exactly you play RuneScape. At home? At a friend's house? At...school???? Please take a moment to let us know. Once you've voted, you can join the discussion about the poll topic and its results or post your thoughts here.

We've also got some updates to tell you about today. First, our Slayer Guide has been updated to add a number of things, including terror dogs and information on Tarn's Lair. We've also updated our Prayer Guide to add the new vestments obtained as reward through Treasure Trails, and our Crafting Guide now contains all kinds of information on making penguin items (can you say penguin bongos?). Finally, you'll find that our Thieving Calculator and Thieving Planner have undergone a few changes - the Chests category has been renamed to Lockpicking, "wall safe" has been added to the new Lockpicking section and, seeing as you always need to lockpick a door on the way, we've added door lockpicking xp to the blood rune chest value.

Enjoy the updates, and happy 'scaping!

Cold War Guide, Updates & Hot Topic! »

Hello fellow Penguins! Er....I mean RuneScapers! Sorry about that, but those cute, cuddly, little penguins from the Cold War quest have just about melted my heart. Aren't they just adorable? If you don't know what I'm talking about, then maybe you should take a moment to do the Cold War quest. And yes, we have a guide to help you! Click here to access the quest guide. And as usual, your feedback is appreciated - you may submit comments and corrections here.

We've also updated our Agility Guide to add the new penguin agility course, and you'll find that the new course has also been added to our Agility Calculator and Agility Planner.

Lastly, our weekly Hot Topic. This week, our Hot Topic is all about things the Tip.It Community would like to see changed or added to the game. The topic contains links to the most popular RuneScape suggestions, sort of a one-stop-shopping experience. Have fun seeing what kinds of changes your fellow Tip.It'ers would like to see Jagex put into the game. Click here to go directly to this week's Hot Topic.

Enjoy!

Let us know what you think by voting in this week's poll. Thanks to Tip.It Community member DarkKnightRider for the idea. Once you've voted, join the discussion about the poll topic and its results here.

Bestiary Follow-Up »

Hi folks, just a quick announcement as a follow-up to yesterday's news item. Our How to Use the Bestiary guide has now been updated to include information on, and tips on how to use, the new hits to level ratio.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to welcome Celebi to the Tip.It Crew. Welcome Celebi, glad to have you aboard!

Times & LOTS more! »

Time for the Tip.It Times. Geez, that sounds funny… anyway, yes it's Friday, and it IS time for a new Times article. This week, our Editor explores the love-hate relationship between game companies like JaGex and fansites like Tip.It. Take a moment to give So Who Needs Fansites Anyway? a read.

In other news, we also have a number of new things to tell you about, as well as updates on some of our existing site content. First and foremost, our Hunting Locations page is now complete, with maps for all hunting regions available to help you track down whatever prey strikes your fancy. We've also added a couple of new features to our Bestiary. On each monster page, we've added the level to hits ratio for that particular monster, so you will now know the effectiveness of training on that monster. In a nutshell, the ratio is the monster's hitpoints divided by its combat level. For example, the hobgoblin's ratio is 1.04 (29 HP / 28 level) - compare that to the rock crab's ratio of 3.85 (50 HP / 13 level). The higher the ratio, the better the monster is to train on. We are still in the process of updating our How to use the Bestiary Guide with information on this new feature, so in the interim, you can get more details here. We've also added a new button to each individual monster page that links you to our How to use the Bestiary Guide. Previously, you could only access the guide from the main Bestiary page, and we thought it would be more useful for you to also add it to each monster's details page.

And for those of you who like to use the Fairy Ring Codes to get around instead of the actual Fairy Ring Map? Previously, the text version of the codes was only available in our Getting Around guide -- we've now gone ahead and added the same code tables to the bottom of the Fairy Ring Map page, which is accessible right from our site's main page. Thanks to Tip.It Community member mchainmail for the suggestion.

We've also updated our Fletching Calculator and Fletching Planner to reflect the true in-game names of various bows, we've added the composite ogre bow and we've corrected the xp values for some of the arrows.

That's all (phew!) for now, fellow 'scapers, enjoy!

We've also got a few guide updates to tell you about. The following guides were just recently updated to include loads of new stuff, so if you haven't looked through them in a while, now would be a good time to do so:

TET Event Honest1 returned to the community »

Great news,

Our reports have confirmed that Honest1 is alive and kicking. Last Saturday the Heroics of the community pulled together to save honest1. We have noted a concern that ZidaneCT has escaped. We have no reports on his whereabouts, and no leads as to where we might be able to find him. All we can do is keep an eye open in case he decides to strike again.

You can Welcome Honest1 home at this post here.

On that topic I would like to thank all the members of the community who worked so hard to have this event work. Congratulations on the TET for their planning that helped make this event possible, and to the community who pulled together a plan. Also good work to all the tip.it staff who helped maintain the Amazing amounts of replies this event brought.

We have a feeling that this won't be the last we hear of public event planning.

Disclaimer: No one was really kidnapped in the duration of this event. All Stunts were preformed by professionals.

Monday Poll & Help needed! »

Happy Monday, everyone. Our weekly poll is up and waiting for your vote. Today, we'd like to know what you think about our main Tip.It site's layout? How easy is it to find the information you're looking for? We're always looking for ways to make the site bigger, better and easier to use, so now's your chance to tell us what you think. If you want to discuss this week's poll, you may do so here. Thanks to Tip.It Community member skatedog111 for the poll suggestion.

I'd also like to remind everyone that we're still looking for pictures of and information about a few of the new Contact! monsters for our Bestiary. Click here for more information.

Have a good week, everyone!
