Introduction

The Sixth Age's second world event has begun! After the epic conclusion of The Battle of Lumbridge, Bandos and Armadyl have engaged in a fight to the death. Both gods have summoned their followers to gather enough divine energy to power great god-slaying weapons housed in their towering war camps. Meanwhile, those of the Godless faction continue to interfere with the main factions' plans, ambushing soldiers at random. The fate of these two deities is in the hands of the players. At the end of the event, one of them will perish. Enlist in the armies of your chosen god to obtain unique rewards, including cosmetic overrides and warpriest hybrid armour! Which cause will you fight for?

When logging in for the first time after the 11th-December-2013 world event update, players are teleported to Falador to witness the appearance of both gods and their tower strongholds. Afterwards, they are able to talk to Kara-Meir for more information, or simply get started immediately by heading to one of the god's war camps and enlisting!

Choosing a Side

Players can freely choose which god to fight for in this conflict. Choosing a side will unlock access to that deity's unique rewards. If you favor justice and freedom, Armadyl is your ideal god. If you value glory and war, you will fit in perfectly among Bandos' legions.

Armadylrec
Bandosrec

If you wish to fight for Armadyl, travel to his war camp south of Falador and speak to the Armadyl recruitment officer. Similarly, to join Bandos' armies, travel to his camp north of Falador and speak to the Bandos recruitment officer. Once you have chosen a side, the officer will hand you either a Bronze Armadylean token or a Bronze Bandosian token. You can use your token to teleport to your camp, check the map showing the world event's progress, and track your own score.

Batbtokens
The Armadyl and Bandos tokens, respectively.

If you ever wish to change sides, you can speak to Kara-Meir located at the crossroads north of the Falador lodestone. Please note that when you change sides, you will lose all progress gained with your old god.

WARNING: Setting foot into the opposite god's camp will result in the respective general hitting you for 10% of your maximum lifepoints every few seconds. However, upon death, you will safely respawn in your own war camp.

Both your score and the two factions' collective scores can be seen on the scoreboard at the top of your in-game HUD. This overlay appears whenever you are nearby a war camp or a node. You can also check this information at any time by going to your 'Adventures' menu and selecting the 'Bird and the Beast' tab.

Scoreboard

The conflict centers around the gathering of divine energy found around Gielinor, with the purpose of powering massive weapons capable of destroying the other god. There is no central battlefield, rather, there are various sites located across the free world that can be claimed by players. Each god occasionally summons convoys to travel from site to site in order to collect divine energy. As you aid your side by performing different tasks around these sites, you will gain renown which can be spent at your war camp for various rewards. You can obtain a maximum of 30,000 renown every day until the event ends. Below is a picture of the war map, which can be checked using your token, or by looking at the map within your war camp.

Batbwarmap
The war map.

Neutral sites should be visited as soon as possible to claim, while enemy and friendly sites can be visited to attack or defend, respectively. Sites will be highlighted in yellow when a convoy is nearby.

Skill Construction Logo  Building & Destroying Towers (Construction XP)

Success in the battle will come easy if your side can control as many of the fourteen sites as possible. Control is achieved by building structures at each of the sites, which provide certain benefits once completed. Once constructed, the building will claim the area for your faction until its endurance time expires, or it is destroyed by enemy players. If a tower is completely built on a site, you can use your token while standing within your war camp to teleport there.

Picture Stats and Benefits
BatbarmafactionbannerThe Faction Banner provides no bonuses other than being the fastest structure to build. Therefore, if you want to claim a construction site quickly and for a longer time, construct the banner.

Time to Build (maximum): 6 minutes

Base duration: 2 hours
Batbarmaspiderhole The Spider Hole will spawn NPC allies to defend friendly convoys or attack enemy convoys if they travel nearby. If all bodyguards protecting an enemy convoy are killed, the allies will proceed to attack the convoy itself.

Time to Build (maximum): 10 minutes

Base duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Batbbandoscombatmono The Combat Monolith will provide all nearby friendly players (7 square radius) with an enemy life draining boost. When in PvP combat, you will gain lifepoints equal to half the damage you deal, capped at 200 healed lifepoints per strike.

Time to Build (maximum): 11 minutes

Base duration: 1 hour, 20 minutes
Batbdivinesiphon The Divine Siphon will increase friendly convoy energy gathering by 10% (25% with node benefit effect active), and drain enemy convoy divine energy by 10% (15% if node benefit effect is active). Drained energy will also contribute to the friendly faction's score.

Time to Build (maximum): 12 minutes

Base duration: 1 hour, 10 minutes

You earn Construction XP and renown when participating in site construction. You also gain XP and renown for tearing down enemy structures. You will gain a set amount of XP every game tick (0.6 seconds) depending on your skill level and whether PvP Mode is enabled.

With PvP Mode enabled, at Level 1, you gain 0.2 XP per tick, and at Level 99, you gain 16.7 XP per tick. You gain 10 renown around every game tick. In Non-PvP Mode, this experience rate is lower, and you gain renown at a much slower rate (5 every couple of ticks). If you can find a safe site, it is much more efficient to build or destroy towers with PvP Mode enabled.

Skill Attack Logo  Attacking & Defending Convoys (Combat XP)

Convoys will spawn at random nodes throughout the day and travel between them looking for divine energy. You can help protect your own convoy from enemy ambushes, or instead go on the offensive and attack the enemy convoys.

A server-wide announcement will appear in the chatbox when faction convoys have spawned. Your allied convoy will always be tracked on your world map, and you can see the position of both convoys on your war map if they are at a tower site.

Bandosconvoymoving
A Bandosian convoy travels past the Air Altar, protected by its god's blessing.

After spawning at a random node, the convoy will travel along pathways shown on the war map, passing through 0-2 further nodes before reaching a final destination node. Convoys are immune to player engagement while moving between nodes, symbolized by floating rings around convoy NPCs.

If you are attacking the enemy, you will earn renown for defeating their bodyguards. If you are defending, you will earn renown for fending off any ambushing parties and assisting the convoy's gathering of energy.

Skill Prayer Logo  Slaying Enemy Players (Prayer XP)

Experience and renown gains are greatly increased if PvP Mode is enabled. With this risk comes the opportunity to face your faction's player enemies in combat. Contributing to a kill will reward you with 265 renown, and if you dealt the most damage, you will also receive a heroic skull. These skulls can be taken back to your faction's war camp and buried, providing Prayer XP. More experience is rewarded if you bury multiple skulls at once.

Batbpvpborder
The PvP zones containing tower nodes are marked off with red streaks on the terrain.

To toggle PvP Mode, open your 'Adventures' menu and select the 'Bird and the Beast' tab. From the world event interface you can manage various settings including PvP Mode. There is a small delay in between switching modes, but otherwise you are able to switch whenever you want.

Skill Divination Logo  Gathering Divine Energy & Crystals (Divination XP)

At the end of a convoy's journey, its diviners will begin siphoning divine energy from springs in the ground. You can earn Divination XP and renown by helping to collect from these springs.

Convoygatheringdivine
An Armadylean convoy stops traveling and begins to harvest Gielinor's divine energy.

Once the convoy's energy capacity (represented by the blue bars) has reached maximum, all contributing players will be rewarded with renown and the convoy will teleport back to the war camp to deposit its energy. Score will be added to your faction's total for the world event. If your convoy is destroyed, it will disappear and the divine energy gathered before its death will be deposited.

While gathering divine energy from springs across Gielinor you may be rewarded at random with a divine crystal. This powerful crystal can be released in your war camp to earn a large amount of renown. You can obtain these crystals anywhere while training Divination. If you are already maxed out in renown gains that day, you may store the crystals in your bank for later. Similar to disabling PvP Mode, you can disable earning divine crystals on the world event interface within your 'Adventures' menu.

Random Events

There are several different random events that can occur which influence the convoy's journey and players' abilities. There are two types of events: Passing and Gathering events. Passing events occur during the convoy's journey en route to the final node, where gathering events may occur. Consult the table below for more information.

Event Name Information
Ambush The Godless faction will ambush the convoy as it tries to gather energy.
Bodyguard Armour The convoy bodyguards will have better armour, reducing damage taken by 25%.
Defenders Local townspeople will show up and defend the convoy. They will engage anyone who attacks convoy-related NPCs.
Dysentery A random bodyguard will contract a disease and take 1,000-4,000 damage every 5 seconds for approximately 50 seconds.
Disruptor Rod Players carrying disruptor rods will have them either randomly recharged or discharged by two charges. The rod still has a maximum of ten charges.
Enriched Wisps A single wisp at the gathering site are enriched, providing a 175% gather rate for players.
Large Wisps Wisps at the gathering site are larger than usual. Gather rate is increased by 25%.
Poison Gas A cloud of poisonous gas will appear and deal damage to NPCs and players in the area. It will also weaken golems, reducing their damage dealt. The closer you are to the center, the more damage you will take.
Poisoned Weapons Bodyguards' weapons are poisoned at random. This only occurs on P2P worlds.
Small Wisps Wisps at the gathering site are smaller than normal. Gather rate is reduced by 25%.
Event Name Information
Alchemist A wandering alchemist will appear. Players may speak to him to try one of his prototype potions. Drinking the potion restores 4,000-6,000 energy for P2P players for 2,000-3,000 to F2P players. After 40 players have tried the potion, the benefit cannot be acquired by anyone else.
Builders A master builder and builder will appear at a blank build site. This event can occur at any neutral node and is not limited to convoy location. They will ask players if they want help in building a faction structure. If 10 players from a faction ask them for a building, a random free building will appear on the site. Unlike player-constructed towers, this free building can be replaced immediately and has no endurance length.
Brigands A brigand and his boss will appear at a blank build site, blocking off players from building on the site unless they are paid in gold coins. This event can occur at any neutral node and is not limited to convoy location. Players must cumulatively give them 300,000gp to satisfy their demands. Players can pay a minimum of 10,000gp and a maximum of 50,000gp, and each player may only pay once.
Golem Parts A follower of Sliske will appear and offer players some golem parts. The first faction to have 20 players accept the offer will be rewarded with 5% gains in all golem build sections.
Makeshift Banner If a convoy passes by a neutral node, a makeshift banner will appear. This banner can be replaced immediately and only has an endurance of 15 minutes.
Treasure A treasure chest containing gold coins will appear, which can be searched by up to 10 players. The amount rewarded depends on your character's total level.
Tricking the Godless A Sliske follower will appear and ask if players want to trick the Godless into attacking the enemy faction. If 20 players from your faction accept the offer, the Godless will attack a random enemy tower. If a truce (below) is active, the attack will be delayed.
Truce A Godless faction member will appear and offer a truce. Players can vote for a truce with any faction, even the enemy's. 20 votes for a faction will trigger a two hour truce between the Godless and that faction.

Skirmishes

Skirmishes are randomly generated fights that occur in various locations across the world. Depending on each faction's army management strategies, a certain number of NPCs will spawn in one of the locations listed below and fight to the death. Players can travel to these battles and aid their NPC allies.

  • Al Kharid, to the north
  • Daemonheim, in the ruined village south of the ring of kinship teleport spot
  • Draynor Village, to the south
  • Edgeville, to the west
  • Falador
  • Lumbridge, to the south
  • Port Sarim, to the west nearby the Rimmington Mine
  • Wilderness Volcano (WARNING: If you die in a wilderness skirmish, you WILL lose all of your items!)

Like convoy bodyguards, faction NPCs killed in these skirmishes may drop sacred metal fragments or other rewards. For more information, see the Rewards section.

Strategy and Tactics

The more renown you earn, the more say you have in your faction's strategic decisions throughout the war. Visit your war camp and speak with your record keeper to place votes on your preferred strategy and army management style.

Click "Place Your Vote" or "Army Management" to change interfaces.

Different microchange and escalation options will be available throughout the course of the world event. Army management affects your faction's available NPCs in skirmishes. However, often the true victor of skirmishes comes as a result of the players involved. If you wish to turn the tide of a skirmish battle, visit the location yourself with fellow faction members and wreak havoc!

You may also place votes at your faction's strategy board. You can vote for one strategy for each of the four categories.

Click each tab to change between the categories.

The Golem

To counter the enemy faction's forces, your faction is always working on the construction of a powerful golem. With your earned renown, similar to voting for strategy, you can contribute to golem construction progress by spending your current renown total on various parts. You can select between offensive, defensive, and special components for the golem's head, torso, arms, and legs. Once enough players have contributed to each category (totaling 100%), construction will complete and the golem will become active, teleporting to combat hotzones to counter enemy threats.

Batb Golem
The Armadylean golem construction workshop.

If a golem is constructed with offensive components, it will teleport to enemy convoys and attack its NPCs.
If a golem is constructed with defensive components, it will act as an additional bodyguard for friendly convoys. It will engage any enemies that threaten convoy NPCs.
If attacked by both players and NPCs, golems will place priority on eliminating players first. However, they will not wander out of their current tower area's radius to follow fleeing players.

Rewards

As you earn more renown with your god, you'll be rewarded with token upgrades which provide various bonuses with it wielded. The table below explains each token and their various benefits.

Armadyl Bandos Tier Cost in Renown Bonuses
