Divination Guide

 

Introduction

With Guthix's death, the shield he cast over Gielinor to keep other Gods from influencing events in the world has collapsed. With the collapse parts of the shield have become infused with the land with a new power, forming energy springs. Energy can be kept and converted into more useful items or deposit them into Energy Rifts near each colony for experience (the number 1, 2 and 3 on the keypad can be used to convert the energy/memory instead of clicking on the conversion interface).
To start Divination, either start harvesting energy and memories from a Pale wisp west of the Battle of Lumbridge crater or talk to Orla Fairweather also west of the Battle of Lumbridge crater and ask her how to start Divination and what to you are to do.

Pale colony - level 1

The fastest way to get to the Pale colony is via an Amulet of Glory (teleporting to Draynor and then running south-east). Other transportation methods include teleporting to the Draynor/Lumbridge lodestone and running south-east/west respectively and using the teleport option on a Zamorakian or Saradominist token.

Chronicle fragments

While harvesting springs a chronicle fragment might appear. If you catch one you will receive some hunting xp (your Hunter level times 10) and a chronicle fragment. Once you catch 10 of these you can either give them to May Stormbrewer or place them on Guthix's shrine to receive a quote from Guthix and some Divination experience. You will receive more experience by placing the fragments on Guthix's shrine than handing them to May Stormbrewer. You can collect up to 30 fragments at a time, but it is highly recommended to hand them in every 10 fragments, as they become significantly more rare.

It is possible to weave the energy collected at springs into new and useful items or use it to convert (transmute) items into other items, for example 3 iron ore can be transmuted into 1 silver ore.

Skillchompas

Skillchompas are skilling tools gained through Hunter which provide an explosive alternative to conventional skill training.

Wielded as a weapon, Skillchompas provide the regular resources one would expect from Divination as well as an increased chance to gain Enriched memories when siphoning (see the levels section for percentages). On top of this, you will receive a 10% base xp increase for each successful action, and a little xp if unsuccessful.

Diviner's Outfit

Certain peices of clothing can help you gain more experience in your Divination skill when training through most methods. These are part of the Diviner's Outfit and shown in the table below.

**There is a set bonus of an additional 1% when all five pieces of the outfit are worn; hence the bonus for the full set is 6% rather than 5%.

Skill mastery and Beyond

Cape of Achievement

Once you have mastered the skill and reached level 99 you may want to buy a Divination cape from Orla Fairweather. If you already have another 99 skill, or obtain another one while wearing the cape (unless you have it keepsaked), it will become a Divination cape (t).

Divination Cape

After obtaining 99 Divination it becomes possible to obtain a Balanced shard randomly, which can be combined with other shards from the other gathering skills (Farming, Fishing, Hunter, Mining, Woodcutting) to create a Gatherer's cape and Gatherer's hood. The cape has the same stats as a trimmed skill cape and the helm is purely cosmetic.

True Divination Mastery

Achieving 99 is the ultimate goal for many players, however the skill does not stop there. For players wanting to show off their dedication to a skill it is possible to obtain "True Mastery" by obtaining "120 Divination" which is 104,273,167 XP. The divination master cape can then be purchased from Orla Fairweather.

It is worth noting that beyond level 99 there is no additional content for Divination as the level increases are invisible so training the skill gets no faster. To work out your theoretical Divination level check out our XP table.
