Introduction Gnome Cocktails Gnome Cocktails Table Gnome Food Gnome Crunchies Table Gnome Battas Table Gnome Bowls Table Credits IntroductionWelcome bold adventurer. So, is your palate a bit bored with the drab fare available in the world of RuneScape? Perhaps you fancy seeking your fame and fortune preparing fine food and drinks, delivering it to Gnomes posted far and wide who are longing for a bit of home cooking? If so step this way and let us guide you through the intricacies of Gnomish cuisine.
Although it is possible to start preparing some Gnome beverages when your cooking level is 6 and bake Gnome dishes at level 10, you will need to be at least level 29 in order to be able to place yourself under the tutelage of the two acknowledged masters of this art – Blurberry and Aluft Gianne Snr. Blurberry can train you to out shake Tom Cruise when it comes to cocktails, while time spent under the watchful eye of Aluft Gianne Snr. will ensure you have the necessary skills to be acknowledged as a good enough chef to make Gnomish food that even the Gnomes would enjoy. Having a cooking level of 42 or above will allow you to prepare every item on the menu. Both Blurberry and Aluft Gianne Sr. can be found upstairs in the Grand Tree. Blurberry can be found in his bar, Blurberry's Bar, to the east and Aluft Gianne Sr. is in his restaurant, Gianne's Restaurant, to the west. Return to TopGnome CocktailsIn order to ensure you are up to the high standards demanded to prepare these, you must complete a few tasks for Blurberry, the proprietor of the renowned Blurberry's Bar in the Grand Tree. He will give you several drink orders and provide you with the necessary ingredients to prepare the requested drinks. If you make an error and prepare a drink the wrong way, further ingredients can be purchased from Heckel Funch’s store, Funch's Fine Groceries, located just east of Blurberry's Bar. To prepare cocktails, in addition to your ingredients, there are three essential pieces of equipment you require. These are a cocktail shaker, an empty cocktail glass and a knife. All of these can be purchased from Heckel Funch, or obtained from respawns. There are two cocktail glass respawns – one by Heckel Funch and the other by the range just south of Blurberry's Bar. The cocktail shaker respawn is north of Gianne’s restaurant, on the table between the Gnome cookers. If you search the kitchen cabinet located north of the table, you will find a knife (as well as gnome baking tins). Now that you have the necessary equipment, it’s time to get slicing, dicing, stirring and shaking. The table below shows the ingredients required and how they need to be prepared in order to mix the cocktails. Also shown are the cooking level you need to prepare the cocktail, the experience points you gain for making it and each cocktail's effect on humans. To prepare the cocktail, simply click on the cocktail shaker. An interface, like the one shown below, will pop up. If you have the initial ingredients in your inventory to make a particular cocktail, it will light up. If you hover your mouse over a cocktail, you will see in the small window how many of each of the necessary ingredients you are carrying. If a cocktail is greyed out, it means you are missing some vital ingredients. If you hover your mouse over it, the ingredients you have will be lit up in the inner window, and the ones you are missing will be greyed out. Once you have the necessary initial ingredients, simply click on the desired cocktail and it will automatically be mixed and shaken. You will then get a message window telling you what steps are needed to complete the cocktail. If you fail to make a note of all of them, or if you make a mistake in the preparation – slicing instead of dicing for example – clicking on the cocktail shaker again will cause a message to appear in your dialogue box, reminding you of what needs to be done. If you have the finishing ingredients already prepared in your inventory, and an empty cocktail glass, clicking on the cocktail shaker again will automatically pour the mix into the glass and add the finishing touches. For the Drunk Dragon and Chocolate Saturday you will also need to briefly warm your cocktail on a range, or the Gnome cooker, to finish it off. Congratulations, you are now fully qualified to shake with the best, hold impromptu cocktail parties, or seek to make your fortune in the world as a purveyor of Gnomish cocktails.
Return to TopGnome FoodOnce you have acquired the necessary skills in cooking and have reached level 29 or greater, why not learn the mysteries of Gnomish baking? Aluft Gianne snr., owner of the ever popular Gianne’s restaurant upstairs in the Grand Tree, is the acknowledged master of this art. To make sure you are up to the high standards demanded by this form of cooking, you must prepare a few dishes for Aluft Gianne snr. He will give you several food orders and provide you with the necessary ingredients to prepare them. If you make an error and prepare a dish the wrong way, further ingredients can be purchased from Hudo’s store, located just north of Gianne’s restaurant. All the dishes are baked using Gianne dough, which is made from a secret recipe known only to Aluft Gianne. The only place to obtain Gianne dough is from Hudo. (Once you have completed your training, if you speak to Gianne snr, he will give you 100 of his special dough, in noted form, to start you on your way.) There are two vital ingredients necessary in the preparation of several Gnomish dishes that cannot be obtained from either Hudo’s or Heckel Funch’s grocery stores. These are toads' legs and king worms. Both can easily be obtained by visiting the swamp north-west of the Grand tree. There are a number of spots in the area where king worms and toads respawn. To obtain toad's legs, pick up the toad, then click it in your inventory to remove the legs. The rest of the toad then leaps back into the swamp where it grows a new set of legs. (Don’t try this at home, RuneScape toads are special, allowing them to lose and regrow their legs many times a day without the slightest hint of suffering.) To bake Gnomish dishes, in addition to your ingredients, there are three essential baking tins you require. These are a crunchy tray, a batta tin and a gnome bowl. (You will also require a knife to prepare certain ingredients.) All of these can be purchased from Hudo. Alternatively, you can obtain them all for free by searching the kitchen cabinet just north of Hudo. Now that you are armed with the necessary equipment, it’s time to get baking. The tables below show the ingredients required and how they need to be prepared in order to make each of the dishes. Also shown are the cooking level you need to make the dish, along with the experience points you gain for making it. Each dishes' healing effect on humans is also shown. Baking Gnomish FoodGnomish cooking consists of 3 types of baked goods:
Whichever item of Gnomish food you are baking, the preparation is essentially the same. First you must use a ball of Gianne’s dough with the baking tin that matches with the item you are making. (Crunchy tray for gnome crunchies, batta tin for gnome battas or gnomebowl mould for gnome bowls.) The 2 items combine in your inventory to make a ‘raw’ item. Now use this 'raw' item (crunchy, batta or bowl) with the gnome cooker or range and it will turn into a 'half baked' item. When you click on the 'half baked' item an interface will open, similar to the one for the cocktails. Once again, if you are carrying all the ingredients to add to the 'half baked' item, it will light up. If you hover your mouse over the lit up item, the small window will show you how many of each of the necessary ingredients you are carrying. If the item is greyed out, it means you are missing some ingredients required for this stage. If you hover your mouse over one of the greyed out items, the ingredients you have will be lit up in the inner window, and the ones you are missing will be greyed out. If you click on the lit up food item you wish to make, the ingredients will be added to your 'half baked' item, resulting in a 'half made' item (crunchy, batta or bowl). You will also get a message telling you that you need to bake it again, and the final ingredient you must add to complete the recipe. If you miss the message or forget what you need to do, simply examine the 'half made' item to be reminded. Once you bake the 'half made' item again, on the gnome cooker or range, it comes out of the baking tin and will appear in your inventory as an 'unfinished item' (crunchy, batta or bowl) along with the baking tray you were using. Now you just need to use the 'unfinished item' with the final ingredient to complete the item you were baking. Note: Toad battas and tangled toads legs bowls do not require a final ingredient, so they appear as the completed product after the second baking stage. Return to Top
