Fairy Tale Part II, A - Cure a Queen

NOTE: You do not need to meet the Farming, Herblore and Thieving skill requirements to gain access to the Fairy Rings. You only need to be able to start the quest.

1: Starting out

To begin, speak to Martin the Master Gardener in Draynor Village square. He will ask you to return in a few minutes to check and see how his crops did. Wait about 10 minutes and then talk to Martin a few times (do not pickpocket him during this time, if you are caught, the counter restarts). He will tell you that the crops still are not growing well. Go to Zanaris to see what is wrong.

2: Zanaris

Make sure you have your Dramen staff and go to the shack in Lumbridge swamp that takes you to Zanaris.

Once there travel to the far north west corner, just north of the bank, and pick up Nuff's Certificate. Go to the chamber room, which is just south of the entrance to Zanaris, and speak to the Fairy Godfather about where the Fairy Queen is. He will ask you to find the Fairy Queen. Promise to tell him when you find her and he will tell you to speak to the Co-ordinator.

3: Nuff's Certificate

The Co-ordinator, who is just outside of the chamber room, will tell you how to use the fairy rings. After she has explained how to use the fairy rings, right click on Nuff's Certificate and click the "study" option. You will see this:

4: Cosmic Rune Altar

Go just south of the bank and speak to the Fairy Chef about the strange markings. She will tell you she has seen them before near the cosmic altar. Go south-east to the cosmic rune altar and when you get there check the Rune temple sign, which is just south of the mysterious runes.

It reads: "Cosmic Rune Altar." You can use these letters to decode Nuff's Certificate. To avoid the effort, it says: "The godfather attacked us. We have fled to safety. If you are loyal to her majesty, find us by using coordinates AIR, DLR, DJQ, AJS."

5: Fairy Rings

Leave the cosmic altar area and go back north until you see a transportation icon on your minimap, just north of the fountain. Make sure your Dramen staff is equipped and that you have Nuff's Certificate, and then click the centre of the fairy ring to use it.

A window like this will appear. Click on each wheel so that AIR appears in the boxes in the bottom. Next click the teleport to this location button. Return to where you were by clicking on the centre of this fairy ring. Now do the same thing for DLR, DJQ, and AJS, although when you do DJQ you will only teleport a few spaces away and stay in Zanaris. If you accidentally go to the wrong place, start over with AIR again. Once you have teleported to AJS you will find yourself in the Queen's Chamber. Upon successful entry, the sequence will also be saved in your travel log, so you will not have to dial it in manually again.

6: Queen's Secateurs

Go to the far north-east side of the chamber and speak to Fairy Nuff. She and Fairy Very Wise will tell you that the Fairy Godfather still has the Queen's golden secateurs and that they need them back. Go to the Fairy Godfather again and pickpocket him. If you get caught just return and try again (it helps if the guards aren't looking) to get the secateurs. Return to the Fairy Ring and type AJS to go back to the Queen's Chamber. Give Fairy Nuff the secateurs and she will tell you that she also needs an essence potion to revive the Queen.

7: Magic Essence Potion

Fairy Nuff will tell you that to get the magic essence potion you need a vial of water and you need to mix in star flower and a powdered Gorak claw. To get the star flower teleport to CKP using the fairy ring. Speak to the Cosmic Being and then pick flower from one of the starflower plants that grow around the plane. Use the flower on the vial of water to get an unfinished potion.

Now go to the nearby bank and get your armour and food to fight an aggressive level 106 Gorak that you can not use a protection prayer against. Teleport to DIR and kill Goraks for their claws. Grind the claws and use it on the unfinished potion. the star flower with the vial of water and then use the powdered Gorak claw with the unfinished potion. You will now have a magic essence(3) potion, which you need to take back to Fairy Nuff.

As all four codes for the queen sequence are now stored in your Travel Log when using the fairy rings, you do not need to enter all four codes again manually. Have Nuff's certificate with you and scroll to the bottom of your travel log to find the sequence.

The code highlighted in white indicates how far you are in the sequence. Click the entry and teleport four times in total like before, only this time you don't have to manually dial the codes. When you arrive at AJS, speak to Fairy Nuff. While being careful to not drink the Magic essence, use it on the Fairy Queen who is lying on the bed nearby. This will use one dose of the potion. Speak to the Queen once she awakes to finish the quest and claim your reward.

Tips, Tricks & Notes

  • When using the Fairy Rings make sure you have your Dramen staff; when going to the Queen's Chamber make sure you also have Nuff's Certificate.
  • Do NOT thieve from Martin at the beginning or you will have a long wait.
  • Be careful teleporting to other places with the Fairy Rings, some are very dangerous. See our Fairy Ring Map page for a complete list of Fairy Ring locations. Click the map to see the locations on the RS world map with popup coordinates.
  • Pay close attention to which letter you are entering in to the fairy ring. "Q"s and "P"s are often confused.
  • Greenman's Ale (+1) or Mature Greenman's Ale (+2) can help you achieve the high herblore requirement.
  • Garden pie (+3) can help reach the farming requirement.
  • Spicy stews can also be used to raise either stat by up to 6.
  • After you complete the quest and are using the rings to teleport to any different location, you must reenter all four codes, have the dramen staff, and have Nuff's Certificate to get to the Queen's area again
  • Magic Essence Potions give you a +3 magic level boost, and after the quest you can freely make these potions. The potions are non-tradeable and give 130 experience each.
  • You do not need to meet the Farming, Herblore and Thieving skill requirements to gain access to the Fairy Rings. You only need to be able to start the quest.
