Introduction
Underneath the Karamaja volcano lies one of the Runescapes most challenging areas. This entire area is controlled by a powerful and ancient race known as the TzHaar. You can choose to either fight in the dangerous Fight Pits against some of Runescape's strongest players, or take on the challenge of fighting Runescape's strongest monsters in the Fight Caves. If you are one of the few who is successful in either of these challenges, you will be rewarded with Tokkul, which you can redeem for an impressive range of new and unique equipment, such as new weapons, a new shield , new jewellery and a new gem , capes and ores and runes you can buy from the local stores!
Finding your way to the area is easily achieved. The easiest way to get there is to use a Amulet of Glory to teleport to Karamaja and then walk to the volcano. You can also get there via the boats that leave Ardougne and Port Sarim. Once you enter the volcano, you will see a cave entrance -- this is the entrance to the TzHaar Caves.
Walking through the area you will encounter many of the TzHaar creatures. These can be killed to obtain Tokkuls, or if you're lucky, they will drop one of the new weapons. You will find a variety of shops in the TzHaar Caves. This is the only place you will find a shop that sells the new weapons, unless you can find a player selling them. However, please remember that the shops in the TzHaar Caves will only accept Tokkuls as payment. As we've mentioned, you can kill some of the TzHaar creatures to get some Tokkuls, or you can sell some runes to the local rune shop to get Tokkuls in return. You will also notice Sulphur vents in quite a few locations -- these can be used to cook your food.

The Fight Pits
The Fight Pits is a place where the TzHaar race holds daily contests to find the strongest warrior, and players are offered the chance to fight in a free-for-all competition against their peers to determine this! The Fight Pits are found on the Western side of the caves -- just go to the bank and keep walking to the West.
If you're planning on fighting against combat level 100+ players, you might want to take some food and some worthy equipment. Well, if you want to win, that is. If you die in the Fight Pits you will not lose any items, and you will not be teleported to Lumbridge. Instead, you'll simply be teleported back to the waiting area. Whilst in the Fight Pits, you will notice a list of how many players are still alive and the name of the previous at the top of your screen. You can also identify the champion by a red skull above his or her head(see picture below). Some players will attempt to hide in the corners -- this can buy you some time, but eventually you will be found.
When you are teleported back to the waiting room, you can still watch the players fighting by clicking on the viewing orb. This will give you a view of the Fight Pits. You can also choose which section of the Pits you want to look at by clicking the menu on the right.
Fight Pit Strategies
Although the goal of the Fight Pits is fairly simple, achieving this can be quite a task. If you attempt to win fighting solo you will be killed very quickly regardless of your level. Whilst waiting for the fight to begin, it is generally fairly easy to join a team. Simply look for other people who have a similar combat level, and ask them if they want to team up. Having a mage on your team will also greatly increase your chances of winning. On the world select page, Jagex suggests Worlds 79 and 148 to find other interested players.

The Fight Caves
The Fight Caves is the ultimate man vs beast challenge for RuneScape's strongest players. It consists of battling countless monsters, ranging from level 22 all the way up to the level 702 TzTok-Jad. Ouch! If you wish to complete this mini-game successfully, you will need to have a high combat level (110+). We have provided a suggested inventory for you below, however this will vary depending on your character's levels.
As this mini-game can take many hours to complete, Jagex added an option to log out without losing your progress and having to start over. To do this, click the logout button ONCE at any time during a "wave" of monsters. You will get a message in your chat window that your logout request has been saved and you will automatically be logged out after the current wave. Next time you log in to your account, you will still be in the Fight Cave and the next wave of monsters will start. If you click logout again before then, you will lose your place in the game and will have to start over. Logging out to save your place is NOT recommended after reaching the level 360's(see below) as your prayer is turned off upon logging in and you can be instantly hit for some very heavy damage. If you do disconnect during this minigame, there's no need to worry as it will save your progress and will start you at the beginning of the wave that you disconnected on.
Ring of Life is NOT recommended, as this is a SAFE minigame, and while wearing it in this mini-game, it loses its ability to teleport you when it normally would.

TzTok-Jad | 702 | The big kahuna, the mother of all monsters. It uses magic and range attacks. Has a different animation, so you can tell which attack will be used before it actually uses it, so you can choose which prayer you'd like to use. Ring of stone NOT needed. |

The Monster Waves
Killing a level 702 is far too easy a feat to be worthy of the Fire Cape. Not only must you do this, but you must battle through 62 waves of attacks from lower level monsters before even getting a chance at TzTok-Jad. To see the list of monster levels for each wave, click the "show" link below.
| Hide/Show: |
Here is the following list of monster waves, listed simply by their level. Be sure to know which monster is which level before trying to use this. The list is broken up into sections before new monsters are to be introduced. You will notice that there will be 2 identical monsters of the highest level before a new subseries of waves starts.
This list is meant as a guideline primarily. At times, after killing a monster in a wave, it will respawn and you will have to kill it again to complete the wave. If you are playing with the RuneScape music on, you will be able to hear a sound that notifies you each time a wave is complete, in case you are unsure.

FINAL WAVE:
63: TzTok-Jad: level 702
Strategies and Tactics
The following strategies and tactics assume that you will be using the suggested inventory above. Throughout the process, always save the lower-level monsters for last, except for the level 90 Tok-Xil. Always kill him first. You would be best killing the Tz-Kih's as well, since they drain your prayer! This way you can heal after losing some HP to the level 90.
Getting to the 90's
Getting to the level 90's isn't very hard, just wear your Guthans and you shouldn't have any problems.
Getting to the 180's
It gets a little harder here, but it still isn't too bad. The level 90's can do some damage, but not enough to worry about. Guthans should heal you completely. Just be sure to pay attention to what's happening around you. When you see two level 90's and one has a different colour face, the next spawn, or round, is the level 180.
Getting to the 360's
Here it can get tricky, because the 180's can hit hard and often, sometimes before you can heal. When you have level 90's coming at you at the same time as the 180's, be sure to kill the level 90's FIRST before you even bother with the level 180's. Trap the level 180 behind the level 90 and finish it, otherwise you will get shot by two of them at once and will die fairly quickly. If needed, eat, and take a super defence potion. When you get two level 180's, you'll be almost to the level 360's. There are roughly 17 level 180's, so you can keep track if you like. After you are about to kill the second level 180, use pray potions, and put your protect from magic prayer ON the second you kill it.
Getting to the boss
OK, now it's time to change out of that hot guthans gear, put on your karils bow and range gear, and use your range potion. Keep protect from magic prayer ON as you kill the level 360, and when the prayer suckers start coming at you, kill them before they attack you. If you don't, your prayer will drain fast. When the the level 45's start to appear, do not bother with them until after the level 360 is killed.
As soon as the level 360 is dead, and you still have the level 45's attacking you, turn your prayer OFF. If your HP is low, put on your guthan and kill one of them. When it spawns into two after you kill the first one, put your prayer back ON. When they are dead, put your range gear back on. Soon the level 90's will come at you along with the level 360's. Kill the level 90's FIRST, as they can be deadly. Since you have the protect from magic prayer ON, the level 360 can't hurt you. Soon you will have level 180's coming at you at the same time as the level 360's. You can do one of two things here -- either go to a safe spot and range the level 180, or trap it behind the level 360. It's your choice, but we recommend the safe spot. After the level 180 is dead, trash the 360. Remember to kill the prayer suckers quickly. Here's a pitcure of the safe spot:
Soon the 180's and the 90's will come at you at the same time as the 360's, which is where it gets tricky. Stay out of the way of the 180's at first, and kill the 90. Then go to a safe spot, kill the 180, then finish the 360. Remember, don't kill the 45's until after you kill the 360. This will save prayer and will give you a chance to heal. Eventually, after killing approximately 31 level 360s, you will have two final level 360s to kill, and one will be orange. This means that after they are dead, you will move on to the final boss, the big kahuna, mr jad.
Killing the boss
When the big guy is about to spawn, turn RANGE prayer on and stand along one of the room's partitions with sound effects on. Depending what side he comes from, he will either attack you from the distance, or get stuck on the other side of the partition you are by.
Keep protect from range prayer on, but if you hear what sounds like a shooting sound, then switch to magic prayer. The range attack sounds more like stomping. Be prepared to move in order to attack Jad safely, if he was not stuck on the partition. If he was stuck, then move out to the side where he will be able to attack you from (and vice-versa) whenever you are ready to start the battle. For example:
His range attack is a bit shorter than his mage attack, but you'll be able to tell the difference. His range attack is 'rocks' falling from the ceiling, and his mage attack is a fireball. He sort of winds up more for the mage attack. Make sure to get the right prayer on at the right time, or you will likely get one-hit. When you get this crazy beast down to half his HP, he calls level 108 healers to help him. When the healers come, put on LONG RANGE and attack them. Kill them fast, or they will heal him, if you can kill them -- it will make it much easier.
When the healers come is when the battle is trickiest. When you attack them, they will stop healing him to attack you. Then, not only do you have a level 702 switching between magic and range attacks on you, but you also have level 108 healers attacking you with melee. This is when it is most difficult since you will be switching prayers while focusing more on healing
The fire cape
If you get this far, we offer our congratulations for killing one of the strongest monsters in Runescape alone! For your efforts, you will be rewarded with a beautiful rare fire cape.
The cape is untradeable so only the very strongest and bravest players own them. Wear yours proudly, and show everyone what kind of warrior you really are!
Note: Players who have 93 Slayer can now be assigned Ice strykewyrms by Kuradal.
